Ljubljana Forum 2014: Smart Cities
Entitled “Smart cities”, the 4th Ljubljana Forum focused on sharing good practices and experiences in connection with the modern cities of the Southeast European region, especially in terms of their growing population and infrastructural challenges. The concept of smart cities is based on doing more with less, using technology to improve the life of the city population, actively including people in the decision-making processes as well as on furthering sustainable energy and social solutions. The event also included the opening of Smart City Innovation Centre for Southeast Europe to support smart city projects in the region. Although technology plays a crucial role in the future development of Southeastern European cities, good practice exchange remains one of best strategies to follow.
